Nick Hartkop Reflects on Five Years Since Diagnosis

On February 10th, Nick Hartkop shared a personal milestone on Instagram, marking five years since he began treatment and received his diagnosis for bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. In his post, he reflected on his journey of growth and change following the controversy that led to McCafferty’s cancellation.

Hartkop expressed gratitude to the McCafferty community for their continued support, emphasizing how transformative the past five years have been for him. He spoke about the importance of becoming and staying a good person, maintaining healthy relationships, and treating those around him with kindness and respect.

His post read:

“Today marks 5 years since I started treatment and got my diagnosis for my bipolar and BPD after being cancelled for being abusive. I’m so thankful to the McCafferty community for their support and it’s been an amazing journey of becoming a good person and staying a good person. My life is completely different and I’ve been able to create and maintain healthy relationships with those around me and treat people well. I love you all, and thank you.

This reflection highlights not only his personal growth but also the ongoing journey of accountability and self-improvement. As McCafferty continues forward, it remains to be seen how this evolution shapes the band’s future and the community surrounding it.
